First Day of Preschool

Long before Ty and I ever thought about having children we knew that it would be a priority for me to become a stay at home mom when the time came.  Little did we know that the time came about 2 years sooner than we planned!  My days with Sam have been a blessing that I deeply treasure and adore.  Granted, he is a two year old boy, so I have to frequently repeat the mantra, "the days are long, but the years are short."  As every parent knows, this is a very real and true statement.  The memory of me holding him for the first time is as real today as the second it happened.  I had informally planned to put Sam in some sort of Mother's Day Out program after he turned two, but then talked myself out of it due to the cost.  Thankfully Mother stressed the importance of him starting this Fall, for his sake and for my sanity sake.  Not to mention there will be another little guy joining us very soon!

Sam is a super smart little guy.  His communication and reasoning skills are very advanced and he picks up new concepts quickly.  I knew it was time for him to receive a more formal education when he mocked the worksheets I made for him.  He made it clear that he was ready for the next level.

Sam absolutely loves going to Bible class at our new church.  In fact, he won't even eat on Sunday mornings and Wednesday night because he is so excited to get in the car and go.  Thankfully our church also has a preschool (Sonshine School) and a Christian school (Cornerstone Christian Academy).  Being in a familiar place has proven to make the transition much easier.  We also love that the cornerstones of his curriculum are Bible based.  I really don't care how much he knows academically if he does not know Jesus.

Ty has been working nights the past two weeks, so he was able to come home just in time to get Sam ready for school this morning.  It was a blessing to get to share this experience with all three members of our little family.

When we got to his classroom, Sam immediately walked inside, sat down at the table, and started coloring.  I kissed him goodbye and he said, "Bye. See you this afternoon."  He was clearly heartbroken to be without Mommy.

We are so very proud of our sweet little boy.  We have no doubt that he will do wonderful things with Christ as his guide.  Good luck to our little Sam as you begin your, who-knows-how-many-years-of education-just-ask-your-Daddy, school years.  We love, love, love and adore you!

Mrs. Sandie, one of Sam's Texas grandmothers, had to check in on her "little angel" so we were able to get a good family picture!  Mrs. Sandie went to his classroom and told his teacher to let her know if he did not like his cold lunchbox food and she would get him some chicken nuggets from McDonald's.  Typical grandmother!

Once we got close to his room he decided that Daddy's hand was a good thing to hold.
